Whether you are looking for a one off activity, an away day of outdoor activities or a complete camping experience with everything from food to transport, activities and accommodation then The Activity Zone is the first place you should call.

Course Start and finish times

We offer a very wide range of courses, with a variety of start times.
The following will help you determine the timings for your chosen course.

Evening, half day, day junior and youth courses - As indicated with course details.

Weekends* - 0900-1730 Sat 0900-1630 Sun

Timings are by arrangement but examples are:

  • Morning Sessions 10.00 - 13.00
  • Afternoon session 14.00 - 17.00

Abseiling Key stage 2,3,4 16 +

Abseiling takes place on a purpose built tower with fully qualified instructors. All safety equipment is provided. Following a safety talk individuals abseil down the tower.

Climbing Key stage 2,3 and 4 16+

This challenging activity takes place on an outdoor climbing wall or rock face. Working with fully qualified instructors children safely learn the basic techniques and skills involved in this stimulating sport.

Adventure Challenge Key stage 2 and 3

It's wet and it's very muddy! Great for teams and individuals. A complete change of clothes is required for this activity.

Canoeing Key stage 2,3 and 4 16+

Canoeing is great for teamwork. You will get very wet. A change of clothes and foot ware is essential. We can also instruct and Award BCU1* for those wanting to gain the first canoeing award.

Caving Key stage 2,3,4 16+

In and around the Mendip area are a number of excellent caves well suited to take first time groups.

Mountain Biking Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Provides opportunities to learn skills in a number of environments.
Instructors ensure the session is challenging but safe by selecting routes to reflect age and previous experience.

Bike Ability Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Full instruction and examination in all the key basic elements of cycling and to level's 1-2-3 of this new national standard

Archery Key stage 2,3 and 4 16 +

Our floodlit, purpose built outdoor archery range with a choice of bows to suit individual strength and size ensure we can deliver sessions throughout the day and in the evenings. Target distances are adjusted to the age and ability of each group.

Air Rifle Shooting

Max x 16. Indoor range. U18's must have completed shooting declaration to take part.

Hill Walking Key stage 2,3 and 4 16 +

Expeditions from short walks to full weekends can be arranged according to age and ability. All equipment is available and will be lead by our MLTB qualified instructors

Mapping Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Map reading skills such as symbols, keys, contour lines and scale thru Practical games and mapping fun.

Orienteering Key stage 2,3 and 4 16+

Working in small groups, orienteering teaches pupils to use map-reading skills such as symbols, keys, contour lines and scale to locate control points

Adventure walks Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Working in teams, students leave on an expedition after a safety talk.
Using map and compass techniques combined with teamwork skills they undertake challenges in familiar and unfamiliar environments

Beach Walk Key stage 2 and 3.

From looking at the marine environment and collecting fossils, to playing beach games, a beach walk is great fun and a learning experience for all children.

Crate Stacking Key stage 2,3 and 4

Max x 10. Weather permitting. A fun activity which develops team co-ordination. The object is to construct a tower of crates whilst balancing and climbing.

Raft Building Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

A teamwork activity that encourages pupils to work together. Using a selection of basic equipment, the group will work to build a raft that will float and steer.

Pioneering Key stage 3 and 4 16+

Students have access to a limited supply of equipment that they must utilise in order to create a unique team shelter large enough to provide cover for the whole group, a ballista or bridge over a stream.

Problem Solving Key stage 2,3, and 4 16 +

Pupils work in small teams to solve structured problem solving puzzles, tasks and activities. Teamwork, planning and strategies are all skills required to meet the various challenges.

Team Building Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Using small team games and activities, pupils work together to plan tactics and learn the skills and techniques required for each different game.

Survival Days Key stage 3 and 4 16+

Great for team building and a lot of fun too. Navigate to a suitable site, build a shelter, cook a simple meal and hot drinks. An experienced instructor is with you at all times.

Sensory Trail Key stage 2 and 3.

Pupils are encouraged to understand the importance of human senses before being blindfolded and asked to complete a series of activities in which they negotiate a range of obstacles.

Nature Study Key stage 2 and 3.

Under the guidance of our trained staff children will gain an understanding of various aspects of habitats and nature in interesting and varied environments

Parachute Games Key stage 2, 3.

This fun and energetic session involves the use of a brightly coloured parachute in a series of small team challenges that promote communication and decision making skills.

Camp Fire (evening activity only) All ages
Good old fashion songs sung around an open fire

First Aid Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Pupils are taught the basic principles of First Aid and are given the opportunity to consolidate learning by participating in scenarios involving role-play.

Giant Games Key stage 2,3 and 4 16+

A variety of giant sized games, Chess, Draughts, Giant ball, Four in a line, Jenka and snakes and ladders.

Health related Fitness Key stage 2, 3 and 4 16+

Using a range of exercises and measurements children learn how the body is affected by activity in terms of fitness and health.
